Twins and BB&T Sports Park Hosting US Development Academy Regional Showcase
Twins and BB&T Sports Park are excited to welcome teams from up and down the East Coast to compete in US Soccer’s Development Academy Regional Showcase on October 27-29. Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs Atlanta United, D.C. United, Philadelphia Union, NYCFC, New York Red Bull, New England Revolution and Orlando City FC will all have youth teams at the event along with other top youth clubs from the East Coast.
There will be 88 U13-U14 boys teams attending the event this weekend and competing in a showcase environment at BB&T Sports Park. “Being selected by US Soccer to host this event is a tremendous honor,” said Twins Executive Director Scott Wollaston. “It is a big time soccer environment for these players with lots of talent on display.”
With the opportunity to host this event comes big economic impact, as well. There is a nearly $4MM economic impact from these three days across the state of North Carolina, with approximately $2.6MM of that being spent in Forsyth County (based on information provided to Twins from US Soccer). Over 3,000 hotel room nights are purchased in the Piedmont Triad area for this event.
There is no charge to attend these games at BB&T Sports Park.
